Darrel Kachan

Senior Consultant
Darrel loves to discover the "Aha!" moments that bring complex ideas into sharp focus. He believes a well-told story can shape opinion, influence behaviors and change the world. And he revels in the power and resonance of language that's simple, direct, bold, rich and elegant.
Darrel can be a fanatic in trying to figure out what's really important - some here at HLB think he's a process freak who, paradoxically, attacks a problem from six different directions at once. But Darrel says the right idea, strategy or marketing approach are "present" in this seeming chaos - just as a solid block of marble was, to
Michelangelo, the sculpture "David" waiting to be uncovered.
After more then 20 years as a communications professional, Darrel still gets excited about learning new things. He draws upon a broad and deep base of knowledge, particularly in healthcare, to crystallize clients' unique benefits into concise, compelling marketing messages. He's especially proud of:
- Creating the positioning strategy and core messages for Scitor Enterprises, Inc., (SEI) a business strategy and IT services firm, based on the market need to integrate business strategy, technology and relationship management to extract value and intelligence from virtual-business networks.
- Establishing "thought leadership" positioning for Global Commerce Zone in the nascent international e-commerce market space through an in-depth white paper on strategies to capitalize on hot opportunities in Europe.
- Conceiving and writing a comprehensive communications work plan and toolkit on healthcare compliance endorsed by the American Hospital Association.
- Creating a unique point of view - the brand management vacuum in professional sports - as the platform for executive recruiting firm Spencer Stuart.
- Leveraging topical issues (healthcare worker protection, fire risks in the OR, cost control, etc.) to position Kimberly-Clark
Health Care as a market leader.
- Writing articles and columns for clients that have appeared in hundreds of publications.
