John McCormack

Of Counsel

John loves to observe. Whether it's watching people or industry trends, he realizes that taking a few moments to look and listen makes the difference between discovering something truly fascinating or being stuck with the merely mundane.

Such contemplation has served John well in his more then 11-year communications career. As a sports reporter for a daily newspaper, he took the time to go beyond the scores and stats and consistently focused on the human side of the story. As a healthcare writer for national business magazines, he was able to translate what all the total quality management, re-engineering and information technology implementations meant for the most important audience of all: sick patients.

John now loves to take the time to focus on his clients' stories. Doing so gives him the raw material to exercise another passion: Retelling his observations in clear, concise and compelling words. Whether it's writing an article for publication, developing story pitches for the media or crafting marketing collateral, John takes pride in his ability to discover the real story, write about it and then deliver it.

John's look, listen and tell approach has resulted in some accomplishments that he is especially proud of:

  • Developing core marketing messages for Data Harbor, a health-care association data and knowledge creation firm.
  • Creating the initial marketing materials for the Attainable Housing Alliance, a new association dedicated to raising awareness of public policy issues in the housing industry.
  • Writing chapters for white papers on e-commerce in the real estate industry and institutional real estate investments for Deloitte & Touche.
  • Securing front-page coverage in The Wall Street Journal for a study produced by Deloitte & Touche's real estate consulting practice.
  • Working with team members to develop and implement a daily e-mail newsletter tracking e-commerce trends in the metals industry.
  • Garnering media placements in top technology publications for a start-up e-commerce company.
  • Collaborating with teammates to produce training materials for an innovative crisis communications program developed for a major retailer.
